Hinuera

Hinuera.

Hinuera, A flag station on the Morrinsville-Rotorua branch line of railway, is 126 miles from Auckland and forty-five from Rotorua. It stands 258 feet above the sea. The district lies in the Piako county and is good for farming.

The Hinuera Post Office is conducted at the residence of Mr. W. C. Ring, not far from the Hinuera railway station. Mails are received on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and are despatched on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Miss Ethel Ring acts as postmistress.

The Hinuera Public School, which was established in 1892, is conducted in a building belonging to the railway department, and stands near the railway station. There is one class room and a porch. The school has accommodation for twenty-six pupils; there are twenty-two names on the roll, and the average attendance is seventeen.

Miss Marion Constance Holder, who is in charge of the Hinuera Public School, was born and educated in Auckland. She served her pupil teachership at Mount Eden and Ohaupo public schools, and was appointed to the charge o the Hinuera school in February, 1899. Miss Holder is a daughter of Mr. T. Holder, farmer, at Lucas Creek.
