Kiwitahi.

Kiwitahi is about four miles by road from the Kiwitahi flag railway station on the Morrinsville-Rotorua line. It has some very fine grazing farms. The station is sixty-three miles from Rotorua, six miles from Morrinsville, and 108 miles from Auckland, and stands 123 feet above the sea.

Tahuroa Estate (W. W. Lindsey, manager). This estate is the property of Mr. George Bayntun Starkey, and consists of 4080 acres of freehold in the Kiwitahi district.

Mr. William West Lindsey, Manager of the Tahuroa Estate, was born in Lincolnshire, England, in 1864, and came out to Nelson at the age of twelve in the ship “Camperdown.” The family afterwards removed to Picton, and subsequently settled at Mauku in the Auckland district. Mr. Lindsey was for several years at the Kereone estate, and afterwards managed a dairy and cheese factory for Messrs J. and C. Gould for several years. Subsequently he was employed at Woodlands station, and afterwards at Lichfield before being appointed to his present position in March, 1898. Mr. Lindsey was married, in May, 1890, to a daughter of Mr. S. Willis, of Somerset, England, and has two sons and three daughters.
