The Cyclopedia of New Zealand [Auckland Provincial District]

Councillor Thomas McClintock

Councillor Thomas McClintock, who was a member of the first Whangarei Borough Council, is a son of the late Mr. William McClintock, of Carnstrone, Ireland, where he was born in 1853. In 1878 he came to New Zealand by the ship “Halcione,” and found his way to Kawakawa. He revisited the Old Country in 1889, and on his return to New Zealand established himself in business as a tailor in Cameron Street, Whangarei. Mr. McClintock was a member of the old Town Board for five years, and has always taken a keen interest in matters affecting the welfare of the district. He is a supporter of the water supply scheme which is now (1901) under the consideration of the Whangarei Borough Council.
