Rawnsley, S., and Co

Rawnsley, S., and Co. (Samuel Rawnsley), Gum Merchants and Exporters, Cameron Street, Whangarei. This firm's commodious premises serve as a central depot for receiving and shipping consignments of kauri gum. The main building has a frontage of forty-two feet to Cameron Street and a total floor space of over 3000 square feet. The greater part of the building is used for storing the gum after it has been carefully graded, packed and marked for shipment. In-coming supplies in great quantities are received, bought and weighed in this store, which is also used for the large grain and produce trade. The rear portion of the premises is two-stories in height, the upper part being also used for storing grain and the ground floor serving as the sorting place of gum chips and where cases for packing this product for export are put together.
