Mr. Henry Archibald Going

Mr. Henry Archibald Going, Foreman of the New Zealand Portland Cement Company, Limestone Island. Postal address, “Limestone Island, Auckland.” Private address, Grahamstown. Mr. Going was born in Essex in 1853, and is a son of Captain Going of Kamo. In company with his parents he came to New Zealand in 1859, and received his education at the Whangarel public school and by private tuition. For some years Mr. Going followed a seafaring life, but settled down to farming and worked in the timber trade for some years. In 1889 he entered upon his occupation at Limestone Island, and afterwards carried on the works for twelve months in the interests of the proprietors, Messrs. Rutherford and Begg. When the business was assumed by the New Zealand Portland Cement Company, Mr. Going was appointed working foreman for the company.
