Allaways Temperance Hotel

page 549

Allaways Temperance Hotel (J. Allaway, proprietor), Cameron Street, Whangarel. This hotel has been established about eighteen years and was taken over by the present proprietor in 1893. The house, which is a fine two-storey wooden building, has been thoroughly renovated by Mr. Allaway and is one of the best temperance hotels in the district. There are twenty rooms including private sitting-rooms, smoking-room and large dining-room. Mrs. Allaway personally attends to the comfort of patrons and keeps a first-class table; therefore visitors to Whangarei can rely on finding the best accommodation at “Allaway's.” Mr. Allaway is also proprietor of the well-known Whangarei Falls, illustrated in this work, to which conveyances supplied by him take parties of sightseers.
