Mr. Richard John Harris

Mr. Richard John Harris, Headmaster, was born at Onehunga, in 1866, and educated at the Auckland Grammar School. He entered the service of the Auckland Education Board in 1891, and was successively engaged in teaching at Wellesley Street, Beresford street, Avondale, Mount Eden and Pukekohe schools. Mr. Harris was afterwards in charge of the school at Ruapekapeka, and the Hukerenui North school before entering on his present appointment. He was a member of the Onehunga Volunteer Corps, is captain of the Towai Cricket Club, and takes much interest in athletic sports and pastimes. Mr. Harris is also a Freemason, and belongs to Lodge Northern Light, Kawakawa.
