Waione.

Waione (Sandy Water), the property of Mr. C. F. Bolton, is situated between Opononi and Whirinaki in Hokianga county. It has a frontage to the estuary and comprises an area of 400 acres, composed principally of fertile volcanic land, which formerly was partly under heavy bush but is now in excellent cultivation. A flock of over 200 crossbred sheep and a number of shorthorn cattle are depastured, and nearly four miles of permanent net-fencing have been erected. There is a fine twelve-roomed house overlooking the harbour, with out-buildings, concrete sheep-dips, shearing sheds, &c.
