Bailey And Lowe

Bailey And Lowe (Walter Bailey and William Lowe), Ship, Yacht, Steam, Launch, and Boat Builders, Customs Street West, Auckland. This business, although started only in 1898, has already taken its place as one of the most successful and prominent of its kind in Auckland. The firm has turned out some of the finest crack yachts in the colony, namely, the “Edna,” “Boomerang,” “Niobe” and “Bona.” At present (October, 1900) the firm has on the stocks, six boats, consisting of yachts and steam launches, which are all being built to order. Of the steam launches built by Messrs Bailey and Lowe, the “Hinemoa” is running on Lake Rotorna, and the s.s. “Tongariro” on Lake Taupo, and both these boats reflect the greatest credit on the builders. Orders for this class of boat are continually arriving from various parts of the colony.
