Mr. William Cruickshank
Mr. William Cruickshank was born at St. Andrews, Fifeshire, Scotland, in 1835. He migrated to Napier, Hawke's Bay, at an early age, and was engaged in sheepfarming until the outbreak of the Thames goldfield in 1868, when he settled in Auckland. There he carried on a receiving and forwarding agency for a great many years, but was compelled to retire owing to serious illness, which culminated in his death at the age of fifty-nine, at his residence, “Sonoma,” Auckland. Mr. Cruickshank did not take an active interest in public matters, but his genial disposition and integrity of character gained for him a host of friends, who deeply mourned his death.
The Late Mr. W. Cruickshank.
