Mr. Edmund Henry Bold

Mr. Edmund Henry Bold, Old Colonist, and sometime Inspector or Telegraphs, Auckland, and Assoc. M.I.C.E., M.I.E.E., was born in Lancashire, England, and studied mechanical engineering and chemistry. Mr. Bold left England in 1861, for New Zealand, and was engaged in survey work in Otago, Canterbury, and Westland. In 1867, he was transferred to the General Government service as assistant telegraph engineer, and was appointed inspector of telegraphs in 1878. This position he held until his death, which took place on the 4th of May, 1900.
