The Cyclopedia of New Zealand [Auckland Provincial District]

Collings, C. And A

Collings, C. And A. (Charles Collings and Arthur Collings), Iron and Brassfounders, Russell Street, Archhill, Auckland. Telephone 696. This business, although situated some distance from the centre of the city, is very extensive, and most up-to-date in all its appointments. The two main buildings are recent erections of corrugated iron of two stories and one storey respectively, and are lighted with electricity, generated by a powerful dynamo, the motive power being a 13 B.P. gas engine. The firm makes a specialty of cast and wrought iron tomb railings, verandah posts, and palisading, of which there are about 100 most artistic patterns to select from, the firm having one of the largest and most varied stocks in New Zealand. All descriptions of castings are made, including builders' iron work. The superiority of the firm's work is well recognised, as it has supplied the New Zealand Government for the past eight years with the cast iron work required on the Auckland railway sections. The tomb railings manufactured by the firm are to be seen in the principal cemeteries of New Zealand and all over the colony, the firm having a well-deserved reputation for good workmanship.
