The Cyclopedia of New Zealand [Auckland Provincial District]

Campbell, John Logan

Campbell, John Logan, M.D., M.R.C.S. (Edin.), Auckland. Dr. Logan Campbell, who is one of the oldest citizens of Auckland, has never practised his profession since his arrival in 1840. He, however, came out to Sydney, in 1839, as medical officer in charge of immigrants on the barque “Palmyra,” which brought colonists bound for Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. Dr. Campbel's interesting career is further referred to in an article on himself, as one of the Superintendents of the Province of Auckland, and in various parts of the historical introduction to the present volume of this Cyclopedia.
