Moir, James, M.B., C.M., Glasgow; Ponsonby Road, Auckland. Telephone, 279. Dr. Moir was born in Clackmannanshire, Scotland, in 1852, and is the son of Mr. Peter Moir, of that parish. He was educated at Glasgow University, where he took his degrees and afterwards was appointed house physician and house surgeon to the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, for the usual term; and then district physician to the Glasgow maternity hospital, with private practice. He left Scotland for Auckland in 1882 per s.s. “Tongariro” and at once commenced practice. Dr. Moir is medical officer to the oddfellows. Foresters, and Druids. He was initiated into Freemasonry in Lodge Thorntree, S.C., Glasgow, and in 1897 affiliated with Lodge Ponsonby No. 708, S.C.
