King, Frederick William Robert John

King, Frederick William Robert John, M.R.C.S., England; L.R.C.P., London, 1890. Private address, “Middlesex,” Wellesley Street East. Telephone, 278. Bankers, Union Bank of Australia. Dr. King was born in the Isle of Wight in 1858, arrived in the Colony per ship “Matilda Wattendbach” with the Albertland settlers, in 1862, and was educated at Auckland college and grammar school. He afterwards studied at the Middlesex Hospital medical school, obtained the degrees of M.R.C.S. England, and L.R.C.P. London, in 1890, and commenced practice at Alfreton, Derbyshire, and at Catford, London, S.E. Dr. King holds the following important page 285 appointments, viz., health officer of the city of Auckland, medical officer for the Costley Home for aged poor, and for the Foresters and Oddfellows friendly societies. He is a member of the British Medical Association, member of the City schools committee, vice-president of the Auckland grammar school old boys' association, member of St. John's Ambulance, hon. surgeon College rifle corps, and staff surgeon to the Auckland battalion. Dr. King was the originator of the Albertland settlers reunion, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of their landing in New Zealand, and the re-union passed off with very great eclat.
