All Saints' Church

All Saints' Church, Ponsonby Road, Auckland. This church was opened on St. Thomas's Day, 1866, by Bishop Selwyn, who became responsible for the services for some time. The parochial district was cut out of the old St. Matthew's parish, and a small endowment attached to the new district from the parochial endowment fund. The Rev. E. N. Bree, formerly of All Saints'. Hereford, was the first minister. The present vicar was appointed in 1883. The church has been enlarged twice within fifteen years, and is now capable of seating about 550 people. Sunday school work is a feature of the parish, there being 500 people. For some years All Saints' has given over ten per cent. of its income to extra-parochial objects, such as missions and diocesan institutions.
