Prince Albert College

Prince Albert College, Queen Street, Auckland. Until quite recently this fine old college presented the same external appearance, with which Aucklanders were familiar half a century ago, but the recent extensive additions, whilst adding greatly to the college accommodation, have so completely altered its external features as to render it absolutely unrecognisable, except for its commanding position. As the Wesley College, the school has been known far and wide, during almost the whole of Auckland's history, and it was perhaps with feelings of sorrow that many former scholars, now old or middle-aged men, witnessed the necessary effacement of the building so familiar to them in their school-days. Over 230 boys and girls attend the college, the girls being in a separate building at the eastern extremity of the grounds. The principal (Mr. Thomas Jackson, M.A., London), is assisted in the boys' college by Mr. Stephenson, M.A., Mr. A. R. Crump, Mr. P. Drummond, B.A., and Mr. T. R. Southall; and in the girls' college by Miss Rainforth, M.A., Miss Salmond, B.A., Miss Blenner-hassett, B.A., and Miss Hodge.
