Mr. James Garland Trevithick

Mr. James Garland Trevithick. M.I.N.A., Technical Master at the Auckland Grammar School, was born at Hayle, Cornwall, England, in 1846, and is the second son of Mr. F. H. Trevithick, and grandson of Mr. Richard Trevithick, the celebrated inventor. The subject of this notice received his technical education at the Milwall Iron Works and Shipbuilding Company. London, where he was a pupil. For four years he was chief draughtsman to the Earles Shipbuilding Company, Hull. Mr. Trevithick left England for Auckland in 1879 and on arrival was appointed drawing instructor to the Auckland Education Department, which position he retained for four years. He accepted his present appointment in 1883.
