Mr. Patrick Marshall

Mr. Patrick Marshall, M.A., B.Sc. (New Zealand University), F.G.S., (London). Science Master at the Auckland Grammar School, was born in Suffolk in 1869, being the third son of the Rev. J. H. Marshall. He was educated at Home until thirteen years of age, when he left England for New Zealand, and completed his education at the Canterbury College, where he took his B.A. and B.Sc. degrees in 1891. Mr. Marshall then studied at the School of Mines, Otago University, for one year, and while at that seat of learning gained his M.A. degree. He was subsequently appointed lecturer on natural science at the Lincoln Agricultural College, which position he held for three years. He received his present appointment in 1896. Mr. Marshall is a keen and brilliant athlete. He is one of the best tennis-players in New Zealand, having won the double championship at the 1893 tournament. In football, he represented Canterbury in the interprovincial contests during 1895. Mr. Marshall is also an ex-member of the Canterbury College Cricket Club, and is now an active player in the United Cricket Club, Auckland.
