Mr. William John Morrell
Mr. William John Morrell, M.A., Chief Classical and English Master at the Auckland Grammar School, was born at Tiverton, Devonshire, England, in 1868, and is the eldest son of Mr. William Morrell of Tiverton. He was educated at Blundell's school, Tiverton, and Balliol College, Oxford, where he held an open classical scholarship. In 1887 he gained First Class in Classical Moderations, in 1889 he secured Second in Humaniores, and in 1890 he obtained similar honours in Modern History. On the completion of his university career he held various appointments, the last one being that of chief classical master of Trent College, Nottingham, which he resigned to accept his present appointment.
