Mr. Reader Gilson Wood
Mr. Reader Gilson Wood, who represented Parnell from 1861 until his resignation in 1865, and again from 1870 till his second resignation in 1878, also sat in the House of Representatives for Waitemata, for which he was elected in 1879. He closed his political career with the session of 1881. Mr. Wood is referred to in the Wellington volume, as having been Colonial Treasurer and Commissioner of Customs in three successive Ministries, from July, 1861, to November, 1864. He died at Auckland on the 22nd of August, 1895, aged seventy-four years.
