Captain Charles Howard Kempson

Captain Charles Howard Kempson, R.N.R., of Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's page 784 s.s. “Ionic,” is a native of Hagley, Worcestershire. After leaving school, he entered the service of the White Star Line as an apprentice, and has really been in the employ of that Company ever since. The s.s. “Ionic” is the property of the White Star Line, but is chartered by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company. Captain Kempson has sailed in all parts of the world, and has passed through the various grades of the service with credit to himself. In 1889 he was promoted to captain, and took command of the “Oceanic,” trading between China and San Francisco. In 1890 he commanded the s.s. “Coptic,” and was afterwards transferred to the s.s. “Doric.” He took command in 1894 of the s.s. Ionic on which he had formerly served as third officer in 1883. Captain Kempson is a lieutenant of the Royal Naval Reserve.
