Captain Richard Alfred Kelly
Captain Richard Alfred Kelly, of the barque “Lutterworth,” was born in Devonshire, England, in 1861. He is very well known in the New Zealand ports, having traded between England and this Colony since 1883—for some years as chief mate of the “Wave Queen,” and since 1890 in command of the “Lutterworth.” Captain Kelly is a member of the St. Andrew's Lodge of Freemasons, Auckland. He takes a great interest in sporting affairs, and frequently promotes aquatic carnivals for the benefit of public charities. He is married, and has two children.
