Storer, Meek and Co. (Walter L. Meek), Manufacturers Agents and Importers, Bannantyne's Buildings, Featherston Street, Wellington. Telephone 750. P.O. Box 252. Bankers, Bank of New South Wales. In 1887 this business page 572 was established by the present proprietor in conjunction with the late Mr. M.F. Storer, who died in the month of September, 1890. The premises occupied afford about 2500 square feet of floorage space. The trade of the firm extends throughout the entire Colony, Mr. Meek himself visiting his customers personally as frequently as possible, and of course employing several travellers. The firm are direct importers of stationery, papers, printers' inks, fancy goods, ammunition, guns, lishing tackle, etc., and hold a large number of valuable agencies, among which may be mentioned that of Messrs. Isaac Hollis and Son, gun makers; G. Kynoch and Co., Limited, ammunition manufacturers; J. and W. Mitchell, paste and cardboard manufacturers; W. A. Lyndon, spade and shovel manufacturers; Johnston Bros., stationers' sundries; and the British United Clock Company, wood and metal clock mikers, all of Birmingham. Besides these, Messrs. Storer, Meek and Co. are agents for Messrs. Sherwin and Cotton, tile makers, Hanley; Messrs. H. Millward, and Sons, fish hook and tackle makers, Bedditch; Messrs. Lloyd, Attree and Smith, warehousemen, Wood Street, London; Messrs. Coates Bros. and Co., Limited, printers' inks and varnish manufacturers, London; Messrs. Lepard and Smiths, Limited, wholesale stationers, London; Mr. W. Sykes, athletic goods manufacturer, Yorkshire; and Messrs. Taylor and Hobson, photographic lens manufacturer, Leicester. Mr. Meek was born in Wellington, and received his education at the Wellington College. He started on his business career with Messrs. Philip, Moeller and Co., of Wellington, and was subsequently for a number of years in the employ of Messrs. P. Hayman and Co., also of Wellington. In connection with these firms he gained a large and valuable experience, leaving the last-named firm in order to start the present business on his own account, and he has since made two journeys to England and the Continent in connection with his business.
