Amended beginning to Scene I.

When the lights go on the stage is empty, and orchestra plays chorus of "Hi Ho!" once.

Off-Stage

(chant): Hi Ho! Hi Ho!

Enter Court singing:

"Hi Ho Hi Ho!
As into Court we go
Here life is grand in Wonderland
Hi Ho Hi Ho!

Orchestra plays chorus while Court executes ballet during which they turn backs to audience. On their backs are letters spelling a message to the audience.

Orchestra only:

Hi Ho Hi Ho
As off to work we go

Court sings:

We represent, no living gent

Orchestra:

Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho!

Crowd chants:

First line: Hi Ho!(They turn and listen for echo which is given by second line.)

Second line:

Hi Ho! (Similar business)

Crowd sings:

Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho!
Hi Ho Hi (enter Doormouse and Mad Hatter)
Here's men who fear no foe
They navigate, the ships of state
Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho!

Orchestra Only:

Hi Ho Hi Ho!
As off to work we go

Doormouse sings:

I'm Mickey Mouse, from Parliament House

Orchestra only:

Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho!

Crowd sings:

He's Mickey Mouse from Parliament House
