Mr. Nash 'Showing The Flag' Overseas With Success

½ Truth's Overseas A headlines

As Readers will have seen in local newspapers, Mr. Nash is certainly being very busy overseas. After leaving Christchurch on April the 2nd, he briefly visited Sydney where he offended one or two Sydneyites by saying their bridge was second only to Auckland's.

His visit to Malaya and the opening of the new Agriculture faculty at the University of Singapore was a very popular event, and he was presented with a death adder as a token of the Malayans' thanks. After a short stop at Singapore and a speech delivered to a packed Airport lounge, where hundreds had come to see Mr. Nash, or as the Asians call him. "Flying Volley," he flew to London. "New Zealand is still loyal to the Queen. Commonwealth and Labour Party," Mr Nash said landing at London. After talks with Mr. Macmillan and U.K. Cabinet Ministers about the grog supply for New Zealand visitors to England for the Wedding. Mr. Nash flew to Paris. Talks with General de Gaulle and the French Cabinet did not come to much as there were no interpreters available who could understand Mr. Nash. Is there anyone who can, we ask?

Mr. Nash then began his shuttlecocking between Europe and England when he left for those famous talks with Mr. Khrushchev. "You were born in the wrong country," he told Mr. Khrushchev after his reception. Mr. Nash greeted, "You would have made a great Labour Minister for Agriculture."

Then back to London came Mr. Nash, and after the Anzac Day Ceremony, he flew to Rome for talks with the Italian President and Cabinet. It is reported that a New Zealand firm made a present of an imported tape-recorder (very rare) to Mr. Nash before his departure.

We suggest that he could record the one speech and play it back to all the Kings, Dictators, Little Dictators, Charlie Chaplins, Representatives and Presidents he will meet during his tour.

The Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Conference was opened on May 3rd and we leave it at that as the conversation dealt only with wedding on the 6th. This was certainly a great event and all who attended were shown great hospitality, said Mr. Nash.

Half Truth wishes Mr. Nash success for the rest of his tour.
