Carry on Phil [1960]

Song

Song

O my mother was frightened by a football they say,
That's why I was so good at the game,
But now I'm out of practice,
And the fact is today,
That I now have fallen from fame.

When I got me start in
The local Kindergarten,
Yes I caused pandemonium,
Football was my obsession,
In the class for self-expression,
Oh your skull can be numb in a scrum.
In a scrum,
In a scrum,
Oh the numbskulls are dumb in a scrum.

When I reached the primers,
My brain was just as dim as
It could be... like a vacu-um,
I'd have not passed standard four,
But for football that's for sure,
Though your brain may be short,
Good report,
Cos of sport,
Oh your skull can be numb in a scrum.

When I went to College,
It wasn't for the knowledge.
Stated on the curriculum,
Tho' I was a mental defect,
They made me the Head Prefect,
Cos your skull can be numb in a scrum.

When I went for U.E.,
The teachers all said phooey,
You're not up to the minimum,
But the pass list it was edited,
By the Head,
I got accredited,
Oh your skull can be numb in a scrum.

Then Varsity beckoned,
A degree is what I reckoned,
I could win with my rugby chum
I can only conjecture,
What went on at any lecture,
Oh your skull can be numb in a scrum.
In a scrum,
In a scrum,
Oh the numbskulls are dumb in a scrum.
