Victoria College Students' Carnival. Friday, 1st July, 1904.

"The Weary Willies."

"The Weary Willies."

There is an office in the town—in the town,
And there a Council sits it down — sits it down,
And talks as much as Labour Hall,
But seldom, seldom works at all.
Hurry up, or we shall move you,
Deeds of might alone will prove you,
And remember that the longest life is short—is short.
Awake! awake! kind friends, awake! awake! awake!
And for "ourselves" a College make—College make;
We'll chuck up swot and take on something new,
And for our fall give blame to you.

You have been idling far too long — far too long,
And we think that things are getting strong—getting strong,
When you can meet twelve times a year
And never, never reason hear.
Shake a leg and lay the wood on
Since Maguire has got the mood on,
And remember that the bricks are getting scarce-—getting scarce.
Arise! arise! kind friends, arise! arise! arise!
How can "Robbie" win the prize — win the prize?
He'll look so sweet in dazzling Oxford Blue,
But very little thanks to you.

We have a young man in a gown—in a gown.
Whom we tried to laurel crown—laurel crown;
But "H.P." cannot Meek-ly glance,
And he never, never had a chance.
Do not think that we would scold you,
No offence in what we've told you,
And remember that the best of friends talk straight—talk straight.
Be calm! be calm! kind friends, be calm! be calm! be calm!
We have no thought to do you harm—do you harm.
When we go aloft to Salamanca Road
We'll trust the Profs. to use the goad.
