The British Crown.

the British Crown, an American built ship of 1150 tons, commanded by Captain Whitfield, sailed finally from Tusker Light on May 6th, 1863, with over 400 souls on board, for Lyttelton. She arrived on August 17th, 1863, having made the passage in 103 days. This was the first ship to arrive at Lyttelton direct from Liverpool. Twelve deaths occurred, all children, during the voyage, and there were nine births. This ship did not make a second voyage to the colony.
