Tom Weston

If I Thought

If I thought this hand were mine, the fingers mine
to move or take your hand, this arm my arm

to guide my hand to yours;
if I thought of this, I thought of you.

And if life was such thinking, behind the eyes
forewarned,

it might be colder there, no laughter, the kisses
less compelling, or not at all, the air undone

for breathing.
If I thought so much, would you arrive,

just here, and come to me, your feet walking,
your hand reaching

and my hand reaching, completely me, completely?
